ISP – Inscribed Signed Photograph: sepia-tone glossy measure approximately 4″x5″. On the reverse he has penned to Revd. F.G. Gillena, from Martin Niemoller, Nov. 18, 1946.  Penned as Niemoller was about to launch a tour of the United States.

Niemõller is, perhaps, best known for the following quotation:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
