Italian cardinal; nephew of Ettore Felici, nuncio in Ireland. Faculty member, Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, Rome. Member of the Roman Curia.

TLS – Typewritten Letter Signed, one page, 3 June 1968. Written on the official letterhead of the apostolic nuncio of La Paz, Bolivia (private mission?).  Touching condolence acknowledgment  to a monsignor-friend.  Reads:  If kind words were capable of filling the void left by the death of my mother, she would still be with us. But the loss is too severe; it came suddenly. I thought the good Lord would grant me the joy and fortune to long enjoy her motherly presence on this earth. The will of God is always merciful. Thank you for your condolences. Please continue to remember the blessed soul of my mother in your prayers.

Felici joined the Vatican Secretariat of State in 1945 at the invitation of the future Domenico Cardinal Tardini, then secretary of the Sacred Congregation of Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs. Went on to serve as under-secretary of the Sacred Congregation for Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs. In 1967, the future Blessed Paul VI sent him on a mission to Jerusalem after the Six Day War between Arabs and Israelis. Served as pro-nuncio in Holland (1967).

Created a cardinal in 1988. Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. President of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei.
